HOW TO BEST HEAL YOUR NEW PIERCING?
Swelling/redness in the first few days is a natural consequence of the piercing, don't worry.
WHAT TO DO:
1. Touch the piercing only after washing your hands with warm water and liquid soap and drying them with a disposable paper towel. Proper hand hygiene will help eliminate germs and bacteria, preventing them from transferring to the wound and causing infection.
2. It's necessary to clean the piercing twice a day, for about 15-20 days . It's recommended to avoid more frequent cleanings because they could inflame and irritate the wound, slowing the healing process. To do this, you can use a cotton swab soaked in saline solution or spray it directly on the piercing.
After cleaning, dry the piercing with a disposable paper towel or sterile gauze. It's best to avoid using towels because they may contain germs and bacteria or leave fiber residue in the piercing.
3. Once the piercing area has deflated (about 3/4 weeks, depending on your preference), you can downsize the bar (change the bar for a shorter one). You can do this during your piercing checkup appointment, or contact us to have it done.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
-
-
do not swim in the first 24 hours after the piercing application and avoid the sea, swimming pool, lake for at least 1 month after the piercing
- don't touch it with dirty hands
- For the first two weeks, avoid sun exposure and tanning beds. If you absolutely must not give up your tan, you should protect the piercing with a breathable bandage during sun or tanning bed exposure.
- When cleaning, periodically check that the jewel is intact and screwed on tightly. Avoid removing or replacing it before it has completely healed, to prevent the hole from closing or infection from developing.
- do not move the jewel outside of cleaning operations
- avoid contact of the piercing with other people's bodily fluids (e.g., saliva and sweat) and with objects or accessories used by other people such as your phone or earphones (in case of ear piercing)
- do not use makeup, cosmetics, sprays and personal care and hygiene products in the area surrounding the hole
- avoid any physical activity that may cause trauma or lesions in the area around the piercing
- Be careful with hair, which often gets wrapped around the piercing, causing discomfort and possible infections.
- x Navel : Do not wear tight-fitting clothing such as tights, belts, skirts or high-waisted trousers, as the rubbing of the piercing against the tissues could irritate the wound and delay healing.
